R&D Technician / Research and Development Technician
£25,000 - 35,000 DOE
Manucomm are currently seeking a R&D Technician / Research and Development Technician to join a successful and long established textile manufacturer based at their Head Office on the outskirts of Bridgwater.  The successful candidate will provide support to the Innovations Director and members of the Innovations team by creation and testing of developments sample materials, management of laboratory trials, identification and sourcing of new component materials.  The successful R&D Technician / Research and Development Technician will ideally have experience in research and design with a keen interest in fabric technology and development.  Ideally with a degree in textiles design or chemical or polymer development.
R&D Technician / Research and Development Technician Key responsibilities:
·Use, manage and review an administrative structure to ensure that that is fit for purpose and supplies data that is relevant, accurate and verifiable.
·Provide assistance in project planning and support processes, identify, categorize and prioritize work requests.  
·Provide technical support through thorough and precise laboratory investigations tests and trials.  Recording and reporting on results.
·Be competent in the use of required test apparatus. Calibrate and records findings of all test equipment. Be prepared, as required, to identify required external testing facilities.
·Co-ordinate the setting up of non-standard tests to meet the specific quality parameters.
·Work with Quality and Operational teams to assist in the transition of projects from development to standard production.
·Assess and record performance characteristics of concept samples at the laboratory, pilot line and in full scale trials at internal or external test facilities.
·Communicate effectively with internal and external customers and suppliers, verbally and in writing.  
·Resolving issues in a timely manner and planning to succeed through positive time management and problem solving
·Be commercially and technically aware, adaptable and proactive in order to identify new products or processes.
·Maintaining accurate records for supplier and customers requirement costs and technical specifications.
R&D Technician / Research and Development Technician Skills / Experience Required:
·Ideally a degree or similar in Textile design, Chemical or Polymer development.
·Experience in a research and design environment
·Understand scientific structures and applicable technologies
£25,000 - 35,000 DOE + Excellent Benefits
